Ministers of Investment and Privatization, and Trade, Industry and Cooperatives visit Kabale on an industry and investment tour.Tobias Habasa
The State Minister of finance for investment and privatization, Evelyn Annite, and her counterpart for Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, David Bahati, on Tuesday 17th August 2021, visited Kabale district on an industry and investment tour, to assess the preparedness the districts for the establishment of an industrial park.
Uganda Investment Authority (UIA), at the start of this month announced a partnership with Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) to build 25 industrial parks across Uganda. The industrial parks, will be built in Arua, Gulu, Lira, Buliisa, Hoima, Nakasongola, Luwero-Nakaseke, Kabarole, Mubende, Mityana, Masaka, Kabale, Bushenyi, Tororo, Rakai, and Iganga districts.
The ministers together with officials from the Uganda investments Authority, yesterday inspected the former airstrip land in Kyanamira Sub County and Kiniogo government land located in Kitumba Sub County and approved the said pieces of land for industrial parks. Minister Annite, asked residents neighboring these pieces lands to cooperate with the government to ensure that the industrial parks are set up.
On his part, Minister Bahati, who is also the Ndorwa West Mp, said that once they are set up, industrial parks will give employment opportunities to the people of Kabale.
The function was also attended by the Ndorwa East Member of Parliament, Wilfred Niwagaba, Kabale district LCV Chairperson, Nelson Nshangabasheijja, the district Chief Administrative officer, Edmond Ntimba and the Kabale Municipality Mayor, Emmanuel Sentaro Byamugisha among others
