The Acting Kabale district Health officer, Alfred Besigensi, has rallied mothers and caregivers in the district, to take their children for Vitamin A supplementation and deworming, as the ministry of Health implements the Child days’ month.
Child Health days are usually held in April and October every year and the core services offered are, vitamin A supplementation for children aged 6 months to five years of age and deworming of children 1 to 14 years of age. Others are vaccination against cervical cancer and Hepatitis B.
According to Besigensi, the immunization exercise campaign is being conducted at all health facilities and through outreaches in the district.
He adds that during this month, they are also screening for Tuberculosis among those with severe cough, as well as Covid-19 vaccination for those who are due for their second doses and even those who had not received their first jab.
Besigensi, is now calling on the public to embrace the exercise for the good health of their children.
