Ugandan authorities today Thursday 09th September 2021, handed over two Rwandan nationals, who were recently discovered dead in Uganda.
47-year old Paul Bangirana, a resident of Gicumbi district in Rwanda was found dead on 2nd this month at Rugarama Village in Buhara Sub-County in Kabale district about 70 meters away from the Uganda/Rwanda border while the body of 52-year old Theoneste Dusabimana, also a resident of Gicumbi District was on 30th August found with deep cuts on the head, in Rushaki Village in Katuna Town Council.
However, before the handover that took place at Katuna Border Post, the Rwandan leaders claimed that the postmortem reports about the death of their two nationals, were not correct.
The Kabale District LCV Chairman, Nelson Nshangabasheija, who read the postmortem report, said that police investigations indicate that Dusabimana was hacked from the Rwandan side and his body dumped on the Ugandan side, since there was not fresh blood stains on the spot where he was found lying, while Bangirana consumed excessive waragi and died on his way back to Rwanda, during a downpour.
The Uganda/Rwanda relations have deteriorated in the past few years, leading to the closure of Rwandan border by Rwandan President Paul Kagame in 2019.
Rwanda accuses Uganda of arresting and torturing Rwandan citizens while Uganda refutes the claims and instead accuses Rwanda of espionage. Several Ugandan and Rwandan nationals have been shot dead by Rwandan security personnel on the Rwandan soil in recent years. Some of the victims have been accused by Rwanda of smuggling goods.
