3,771 candidates in Kabale District to write their PLE exams.

3,771 Primary seven candidates in Kabale District, will tomorrow Tuesday, write their Primary leaving examinations.

The Kabale District Inspector of schools, Wilberforce Nabaasa, says that the 3,771 candidates from the 107 schools in the district, will write their examinations at 74 examination centres.

This year’s Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) officially began today with the briefing of candidates countrywide at the various examination centres. The candidates will then begin writing their examinations tomorrow, beginning with Mathematics in the morning and Social studies and Religious Education in the afternoon.

On Wednesday, the candidates will write Integrated Science in the morning and end with English in the afternoon.

Nabaasa says that they have deployed, Scouts, Chief Invigilators and Invigilators to supervise the examinations so that the entire process is successful. He adds that deployed well experienced drivers to deliver the exams to different examination centres in order to tackle the problem of late delivery exams.

Nabaasa, is now calling for cooperation from all stakeholders, so that this year’s candidates can end their primary education cycle successfully.

According to the Uganda National Examination Board-UNEB Executive Director, Dan Nokrach Odongo, a total of 832,810 Candidates are expected to sit for this year’s PLE from 14,153 examination Centres. This is an increase of 82,999 (11.1%) from 2020.

61 of these candidates are inmates from Upper Prison School Luzira. 51.9% (432,618) of the total candidature are females while 48.1% (400,192) are males. 70.1% (583,769) are funded under the Universal Primary Education (UPE) Program, while 29.9% (249,041) are non–UPE candidates.
