Kabale District Headquarters is set for a major facelift following the launch of extensive renovation works on key administrative buildings, aimed at improving the working environment and service delivery.
The renovation project, officially launched today by district leaders, covers the Administration Block, the Community Based Services (CBS) Office Block, and the District Health Officer’s (DHO) building. The works will be undertaken by Ishavi Engineering Company Ltd at a total cost of UGX 204,717,246 and are expected to be completed within three months.
According to district officials, the scope of works on the Administration Block includes repairs and repainting of external walls, rooftop painting, plumbing and electrical repairs, rearrangement of utility cables, construction of a reception booth for the RDC’s secretary, and improvement of walling in the Procurement and Disposal Unit offices.
At the Community Based Services Office Block, the contractor will carry out floor tiling, internal and external painting, rooftop painting, replacement of wooden external doors with metallic ones, electrical repairs, ceiling works, and other improvements.
Additional external works include renovation of the gate and gatehouse, construction of a walkway connecting the Administration Block to the CBS Block, and repairs to external toilets, among others.
Presiding over the launch, the Kabale Resident District Commissioner, Major Godfrey Katamba, cautioned the contractor against shoddy workmanship, noting that the project will be closely supervised due to its location at the district headquarters.
Kabale District LCV Chairperson, Nelson Nshangabasheija, echoed the call for quality, urging the contractor to ensure value for money and timely completion of the works.
Chief Administrative Officer Ronald Mutegeki described the renovation as long overdue, particularly for the older buildings at the headquarters. He added that future renovation plans should consider replacing aging rooftops to give the district offices a more modern and durable outlook.
The facelift is expected to significantly enhance the functionality, safety, and appearance of Kabale District Headquarters, ultimately improving service delivery to the public.
