17 Women Groups in Kabale receive 127million shillings under UWEP Program.

Kabale District Local Government has commissioned 17 women groups that have received 127 million Uganda shillings from the Ministry of Gender Labor under the social development Uganda Women Entrepreneurial Program-UWEP.
Commissioning the beneficiary groups after a one day training on the funds’ guidelines in the District council hall today, the Kabale deputy Resident District Commissioner, Ronald Bakak warned the beneficiaries against diverting the funds towards clearing their outstanding loans in other financial institutions and also paying fees for their children.
Bakak noted that these funds are not a donation but a grant from the government, which should be paid back at the end of three years. He warned to arrest and prosecute any beneficiaries who will divert the funds, saying that the beneficiaries should adhere to project guidelines, which they submitted to the ministry.
The Kabale District Community Development officer, Christopher Namara, said that the District started benefiting Under UWEP in the 2016/207 Financial and has since disbursed 919, million shillings. According to Namara the 17 groups, which are benefiting this year, have received 127 million shillings.
He expressed dismay at some beneficiaries who always default on repayment of government funds under different programs, claiming that they shared the money with the district technical staff.
