Kabale District has donated 784 gauge-28 Iron sheets and 237 Kilograms of Roofing nails to 11 Primary schools as one of the ways of improving the learning conditions in the schools.

According to the Acting Kabale District Education Officer, Moses Bwengye Tumwijukye, the iron sheets were purchased under the School Maintenance Grant program, where the parents have managed to contribute and constructed classrooms up to the roofing level.

Presiding over the handover of the iron sheets and roofing nails, the Kabale District LCV Chairperson, Nelson Nshangabasheija, implored all stakeholders in these schools, to ensure that these roofing materials, are put into the right to ensure that the learners get a conducive learning environment. He warned to deal decisively with anybody who will attempt to misuse theiron sheets, citing an incident where a headteacher and his Chairperson school management committee connived and shared the iron sheets amongst themselves.

Nshangabasheija retaliated that the District resolved to always give roofing materials to primary schools, which have permanent buildings built and roof timber framework already in place, as a way of supporting parents’ contributions.
