Kabale District Leaders launch the construction of different projects valued at 1.8bUgx in three Schools.

Kabale District Local Government have launched the construction of different projects valued at 1.8 billion shillings at several Schools across the district.

 

The projects that were commissioned include multi purpose Hall, Library and ICT Hall, two classroom block, two twin staff houses, two 5 stance VIP latrine and staff kitchen all at Kakomo Secondary school in Kitumba Sub county, valued at 1 billion shillings.

Other projects are, renovation of two classroom blocks, administration block and a multi purpose Hall at Rukore High School, all valued at 500 million shillings contracted by Geses Uganda Limited, and the construction of a dinning Hall at the cost of 300 million shillings for the first phase contracted by Archcivil contractors and builders limited.

The Head teacher of St Mary’s College Rushoroza, Christopher Monday commended the government for the support, adding that the project still has a deficit of 600 million shillings to be completed

Speaking during the launch of these projects, the Kabale District Speaker, Flavia Nyinakiiza Kanagazi and Hillary Byaamukama, the secretary for Health and Education, who represented the District Chairperson, Nelson Nshangabasheija, warned the contractors against Shoddy work.

The Kabale District Chief Administrative officer, Fred Kalyesubula, observed that there was a delay to start the projects, because of the delay in the procurement of contractors, after they were re-advertised.

The Kabale Assistant Resident District Commissioner, Christmas Turyomurugyendo and the District Internal Security officer, Gerald Turyamureeba, also warned contractors against deviating from the bills of quantities. They also called on contractors to respect the contract timelines and ensure value for money.
