Kabale District Parish Chiefs tasked to put Government tablets into good use.

The Kabale Deputy Resident District Commissioner, Christopher Aine, has tasked parish chiefs in the district, to ensure that they put into right use the tablets given to them to support in critical national programs, including the Parish Development Model.

 

The Ministry of ICT and National guidance recently handed over 60,247 tablets to the Ministry of Local Government, Operation Wealth Creation and the Electoral Commission, to support critical national programs, including the Parish Development Model (PDM) and the upcoming electoral processes.

The devices, provided by the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS), will help to improve service delivery at different levels of government.

 

Now, speaking on Monday this week at the handover of tablets to 67 parish chiefs at the District Rukiiko hall, Mr Aine noted that the tables are meant to collecting data that can feed into the national statistics for proper planning and service delivery.

Speaking at the handover, the Kabale District Chairperson, Hon Nelson Nshangabasheija highlighted the challenges parish chiefs in the district face live inadequate devices for data capturing, poor telecommunication network and poor transport means among others.

 

The Deputy Chief Administrative Officer, Robert Mugabe called on the recipients to ensure effective use of the tablets to achieve their intended objectives. He also warned the beneficiaries against losing the devices, saying that they should take responsibility of the protecting them like other government properties.

According to the distribution guidelines from the Ministry of Local Government the tablets are supped to distributed to Parish chiefs for Parish Development Model Information System (PDMIS), enabling efficient disbursement of funds and registration of beneficiaries.

Others are to be distributed to Sub-County and town council Community Development Officers (CDOs, district IT officers and statisticians.
