The Kabale Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Ronald Mutegeki, has warned health workers in the district against absenteeism, stressing that effective service delivery can only be achieved if medical staff consistently report to duty and execute their roles diligently.
Mr. Mutegeki made the remarks today while addressing in-charges of all government health centres during the Health Sector Quarterly Performance Review Meeting held at Rukiiko Hall, Makanga Hill in Kabale Municipality.
He emphasized the importance of punctuality, communication, and adherence to reporting structures, noting that timely performance reports are essential in tracking progress and improving the overall performance of the sector.
Kabale District Health Officer, Dr. Gilbert Arineitwe Mateeka, explained that the quarterly performance review meetings are organized to assess service delivery, identify shortfalls, and discuss the prevailing disease situation in the district. He added that the reviews also serve as preparation for the national assessment exercise conducted by the Office of the Prime Minister. Kabale District’s health sector was ranked 8th nationally in the last assessment.
Speaking at the same meeting, Kabale Deputy Resident District Commissioner, Michael Muramira Kyakashaari, urged health centre in-charges to ensure proper management of public resources, including medical equipment. He stressed that staff at lower health facilities are key government cadres in sensitizing communities to seek better health services.
Mr. Kyakashaari reiterated the need for timekeeping and daily attendance by health workers, and revealed that the district plans to begin holding service delivery barazas to evaluate the quality of services provided across all sectors and identify areas for improvement.
