President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, who also serves as the National Resistance Movement (NRM) National Chairman, has urged Ugandans to focus on improving their household incomes even as government continues to invest heavily in key economic and social infrastructure across the country.
Addressing thousands of supporters at Kigezi High School Primary Grounds in Lower Bugongi, Northern Division, Museveni emphasized that national development alone cannot eliminate poverty within homes unless families take deliberate steps to increase their earnings.

He cautioned the public against assuming that government projects automatically bring wealth into individual households. “Do not be misled to think development will come into your home on its own. Government can improve infrastructure, but poverty will remain in your household unless you fight it,” he said.
The President reiterated his call for Ugandans to embrace the Four-Acre Model, which he said is effective for income generation through enterprises such as poultry, piggery, dairy farming, and fruit production. He further encouraged a culture of saving, a shift away from subsistence-only farming, and increased investment in the education of children.
Museveni, who is also the NRM presidential flag bearer, added that the NRM remains the only political organisation with a consistent and proven strategy for Uganda’s long-term development.
He called on Ugandans to vote the NRM back into power, noting that the next five-year term will focus on consolidating the gains highlighted in the NRM 2026–2031 Manifesto, especially the preservation of peace and security. Museveni reminded supporters that before the NRM took over leadership, many parts of Northern and Eastern Uganda were grappling with severe insecurity, which has since been restored.
Former Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda also addressed the gathering, thanking the people of Kabale for their unwavering support to the NRM and urging them to remain committed to the party’s vision.
Presenting the memorandum on behalf of Kabale District leaders, District NRM Chairperson Hon. Bridget Asiinga Tumwesigye, who also serves as the Kyanamira Subcounty Woman Councillor, commended the government for the peace and stability the country enjoys and for the major development projects implemented in the district.
She highlighted several recent achievements, including, Construction of Kabale Central Market, Upgrading of the Kabale–Lake Bunyonyi Road, The Shs 47 billion Bugarama Water Project, Reconstruction of Maziba Primary School, costing over Shs 1 billion

Tumwesigye also praised government’s wealth-creation programmes such as the Parish Development Model (PDM) and Emyooga, which she said are significantly boosting household incomes across Kabale District.
Hon. Asiinga appealed to government to, expand the Kigezi Skilling Industrial Hub to accommodate more learners and equip youth and women with employable skills, establish district mini-industrial parks to support carpentry, tailoring, and small-scale agro-processing and onsider setting up air transport facilities at Nyamiringa and Batuma, or re-establish the Butobere Airstrip and support regional universities and higher institutions through the State House Innovation Fund, enabling them to develop applied technologies, entrepreneurship initiatives, and digital solutions in the era of artificial intelligence
