A team from the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) has held an entry meeting with the Kabale District Local Government technical staff ahead of a three-day National Local Government Performance Assessment Exercise.
The annual assessment, conducted under the Local Government Performance Assessment System (LGPAS), evaluates the performance of districts across key sectors such as education, health, water, finance, and governance. The results determine the allocation of development grants and guide the formulation of Performance Improvement Plans for local governments.

Addressing district leaders, the team leader, Doreen Adong, called for cooperation from all departments to ensure a smooth, transparent, and successful exercise.

Kabale District Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Ronald Mutegeki, expressed the district’s readiness, noting that technical staff had diligently compiled all required documentation and evidence ahead of the assessment. He added that Kabale is aiming for the top position in this year’s national ranking.
Flagging off the exercise, the District Speaker, Flavia Nyinakiiza Kanagizi, commended the technical team for securing the fourth position in last year’s assessment. She encouraged both staff and assessors to work collaboratively and ensure that all necessary information is well-aligned to facilitate a smooth process.
The assessment is expected to run for three days.
