Heavy rains render several roads impassable in Kabale District.

The ongoing heavy rains have worsened the state of several roads and bridges in Kabale district, paralyzing transport.

The most affected roads include Kabale-Lake Bunyonyi, Katuna-Rubaya-Muko, Buramba-Rwemihanga, Kagoma-Katete-Nkora, Kibuga-Bushanira-Karujanga, Kabanyonyi-Karweru-Maziba, Kahondo-Maziba and Katukura-Karambwe-Rwanda Border roads.

Others roads are Kaharo-Nkumbura, Kyobugombe-Kicence, Konyo-Nyamwerambiko, Kekubo-Kanyankwazi, Kakumbwa-Kihanga and Harutindo-Kakooko roads among others.

Some of the bridges that were destroyed include; Old Kabale-Katokye, Rwenkima-Kitibya, Kyanamira-Katokye and Rwakashande-Katokye among others.

The Kabale District Communications Officer, Alex Byakatonda said that the district engineering department in partnership with Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) Kabale, have written to UNRA Mbarara Station to assist the district with the road equipment to help in opening the affected roads.
