Kabale District Launches Mass Yellow-fever vaccination Campaign.

Kabale District has today launched the mass Yellow-Fever vaccination campaign, targeting people aged between 9mounths to 60 years.
According to the Ministry of Health, the 5-day yellow fever vaccination campaign is expected to run from 9th to 13th June, 2023.
The Kabale District Health Officer, Dr Gilbert Arineitwe Mateeka, says that a team of five people has been deployed at each of 105 vaccination centers in the District. He adds that the District is targeting to vaccinate a total of 200,000 people by the end of the campaign. Mateeka is now calling on the public to embrace the campaign, saying that the vaccines are safe to the health of humans.


Speaking during the coordination meeting held at Kabale District Council Hall in Kabale Municipality, the Deputy Kabale Resident District Commissioner, Andrew Ronald Bakak, warned to deal severely with anybody who will be found sabotaging the campaign. He added that they have alerted all Gomborora Internal Security Officers and other security agencies to arrest anybody that will be found disseminating messages that decampaign the mass Yellow Fever vaccination exercise.

Moses Mutabaazi, the Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response coordinator for Kigezi region, says that the vaccination campaign is targeting 51 districts in the entire country, including those in Kigezi region.
According to the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Health, Dr Diana Atwiine, they have now acquired 13,397,640vaccines, targeting all unvaccinated Ugandans aged 9months -60 years. Kigezi region alone has been allocated 1,419,594 doses.
