Construction of four twin Staff houses launched at Maziba H/C IV.

Kabale District Local Government has officially launched the construction of four twin staff houses at Maziba Health Centre IV in Maziba Sub County, in a bid to provide accommodation for health workers, so as to improve health service in the area.
According to the Kabale District Engineer, Januario Bagamuhunda, the twin staff houses are being constructed was by the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) Engineers Brigade at 681 Million Shillings. The health centre, which receives more than 1,300 patients from Ndorwa East County and neighboring Rwanda every month, has 42 health workers, with less than ten staying at the facility.

The 681 Million Shillings were lobbied from the government by the Ndorwa East County Member of Parliament, Wilfred Niwagaba and the Kabale District Woman Member of Parliament, Catherine Atwakire Ndamira.
The Kabale District Health Officer, Dr Gilbert Mateeka, said that the construction of houses at the facility is timely since the facility is grappling with inadquate staff accommodation, which affects performance of health workers.


The Kabale District Chief Administrative officer, Fred Kalyesubula, said that the district has fully paid the UPDF brigade for all the works and are awaiting for the brigade to handover complete works.
The Kabale District Chairperson, Nelson Nshangabasheija commended the cooperation that exists between the leaders in the district, which he said has facilitate proper service delivery.

In their remarks, Niwagaba, Ndamira and the Kabale District Speaker, Flavia Kanagizi, expressed optimism that once complete the staff houses will help to improve on service delivery. The legislators promised to do more lobbying so that the health center gets a better and spacious out patient department.
