Kabale District Authorities launch Projects worth over 500 million shillings in Butanda Sub county.

Kabale District Authorities have today launched construction works for a two twin classroom blocks at Butanda Secondary school in Butanda Sub county of Kabale District valued at 285 million shillings.
The ground-breaking ceremony was presided over by the Kabale Deputy Resident District Commissioner, Christopher Aine, who called on the contractor to adhere to the bill of quantities for the project.
He also wondered the current state of the school, which he said compromises the learning environment for the learners.
The scope of works for the project also, includes site levelling works, external works, environmental social safe guards and safety management.
Speaking at the launch, the District Vice Chairperson, Miria Akankwasa Tugume, who represented the District Chairperson, Nelson Nshabangabasheija, commended government for the funds saying that the school has been in a sorry state.
Akankwasa also noted that as the political leadership of the district they are also aware of other challenges that the school faces like the absence of a computer laboratory and computers, lack of accommodation facilities for both the teachers and learners, but promised that they continuing to lobby government over the same.
The Kabale Deputy Chief Administrative Officer, Robert Mugabe also called on the school stakeholders to combine efforts and ensure the enrollment at the school improves.
In May last year, Fatimah Namukwaya, the deputy Director Anti-Corruption Operations under Internal Security Organization (ISO), and her anti-corruption team, visited the school and were shocked by the state in which they found it
The school, which is located in Butanda sub county of Ndorwa West county, about a kilometer from the Uganda-Rwanda border, currently has an enrolment of less than 100 students. The only classroom blocks at the school are in shambles.

- Two 5 stance VIP latrines and an incinerator at Butanda Secondary school.
- Construction of a 5 Stance VIP latrine at Nyamiryango Primary school
- Construction of a 2 Stance VIP latrine at Nyamiryango H/CII
- Commissioning of a 4 stance VIP latrine at Kyevu market
- Construction of 50,000 water harvesting tank in Katete-Nkora valued at 69 million shillings and
- Construction of 50,000 water harvesting tank at Mushenyi village valued at 63 million shillings.
- Others are three protect springs also in Butanda Sub county.
