Kabale District lays draft budget estimates for FY 2024/25.

Kabale District officially lays draft budget estimates for FY 2024/25

 

Kabale District council has today laid draft budget estimates for the 2024/25 Financial Year, totaling to 49,154, 823,000(Forty-Nine billion, one hundred and fifty-four million, eight hundred and Twenty-three thousand shillings only).

The motion for laying of the draft budget estimates was presented by the District Chairperson, Nelson Nshangabasheija, during the district council that was held in the district Council hall and chaired by the Speaker, Flavia Nyinakiiza Kanagizi, before it was unanimously approved by the council.

Quoting section 77, sub section (1) of the local Government Act Cap 243 as amended, which gives local governments the right and obligations to formulate, approve and execute their budgets and plans as long as they are balanced, Nshangabasheija observed that the expected expenditure for the district in the FY 2024/25 totals to Forty-Nine billion, one hundred and fifty-four million, eight hundred and Twenty-three thousand shillings only, which indicates the district’s anticipated revenue balances with the projected expenditure.

According to the budget estimates, the district’s budget has been increased by 20 percent, from 43,937,050,000sh during the current financial year. And accordingly, the increase has been attributed to provision of additional indicative planning figures, including 6,291,669,279sh, which has been provided as conditional grant non-wage to cater for pension, gratuity, pension/gratuity arrears and salary arrears and 900,000,000sh has been provided as transitional development ad hoc to cater for the construction of a Multi-purpose block at Ndorwa Secondary School, construction of an administration at Kitumba Sub county and construction works at Butanda secondary school.

In the meantime, Kabale district council Chairperson, Nelson Nshangabasheija, also laid the draft district consolidated Annual Work plan, procurement plan, capacity building plan and Revenue enhancement plan for the 2024/25 Financial year, in accordance with sect 35 sub section (1) and section 77 sub section (1) of the local Government Act cap 243 as amended.
