Kabale District leaders launch the construction of a new District Rukiiko hall.

Kabale District leaders have today launched the construction a new district Council hall at Kamuganguzi sub county headquarters, in anticipation of the operationalization of Kabale City.

 

According to the Kabale District Chief Administrative officer, Fred Kalyesubula, the district this Financial year, received a conditional fund of 400million shillings to construct the District council hall. He adds that in anticipation of the operationalization of Kabale city in 2026, the district council later approved that the council hall be constructed at Kamuganguzi sub county headquarter, where the district headquarters are expected to be hosted.

 

Speaking at the launch of construction works, the Kabale Deputy Resident District commissioner, Ronald Bakak, said that he had recently discovered a habit of altering bills of quantities (BOQs) by some contractors, which he said is an indication of sheer corruption and convenience to steal government funds. He however vowed to crack a whip such contractors.

In response, the Chief Administrative officer, Fred Kalyesubula, implored all contractors who are undertaking projects in the district to always inform the entire district leadership, in case technical variations are encountered in projects, so that a common understand and technical advice are sought before the project proceeds, to avoid any future queries.

 

The Kabale District LC5 Chairperson, Nelson Nshangabasheija noted that he is ready to fight against corruption and misuse of government funds, so that equitable service delivery is realized in the district. Works for the council hall will be undertaken by Geses Uganda Ltd
